Baseball Inks Landon Willeman And Peyton Wilson To National Letters Of Intent
December 10, 2019 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team and head coach Danny Schmitz announced the signing of two future student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Landon Willeman (Napoleon, Ohio / Napoleon) and Peyton Wilson (New London, Ohio / New London) will join the program as freshmen for the 2021 season.
A six-foot right-handed pitcher from Napoleon, Ohio, Willeman is coming to Bowling Green by way of Napoleon High School. As a junior, Willeman won four games and struck out 70 batters in 46.2 innings. Willeman, an All-NLL and All-Northwest Ohio district selection, posted a 2.40 ERA during the 2019 season.
"Landon Willeman is a versatile multi-sport athlete out of Napoleon High School," commented Schmitz. "He's lettered in four different sports and will be a four-year starter on the baseball team. Landon works in the upper 80's with his fastball and has a hammer breaking ball. He can really spin the baseball. He has a lot of upside because he is highly motivated and his mechanics allow him to compete in the strike zone all the time. He had a great summer for the Napoleon Legion. Landon does an outstanding job in the classroom and we are looking forward to his future as a Falcon."

Wilson, a six-foot-one right-handed pitcher from New London, Ohio, has already earned All-Conference and All-District accolades heading into his senior campaign. In 2019, Wilson posted a 1.43 ERA and limited opponents to a .158 batting average. Over the entirety of his career, Wilson has struck out 165 batters and logged 103.1 innings on the mound.
"Peyton Wilson is a hard-nosed multi-sport athlete out of New London High School," said Schmitz. "He's started at quarterback for the past couple years and has starred on the varsity baseball team since his freshman year. Peyton possesses a fastball that has reached 90 on multiple occasions to go with two quality secondary offerings. He has power stuff and pitchability right now. We also like his competitiveness and the fact that he's driven to be great in everything he touches. Peyton is also a great student and will be an outstanding addition to our family here at BGSU."

The baseball program recently announced its 2020 schedule. Bowling Green opens the season with a three-game series at Lipscomb over Feb. 14-16. The entire schedule can be accessed by clicking RIGHT HERE.
