Falcons Beat Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Advance To Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Final

With two wins on the first day of match play the Falcons advance to the final tomorrow
DADE CITY, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team beat Ohio and Eastern Michigan on the first day of the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play to reach the championship match vs. Miami University.
AM Match (Quarterfinals)
BGSU wins 5-1 over Ohio Bobcats
Although a lopsided final score, it came down to the final hole. Pablo Heredia Iglesias and Nick Hofland both made birdies to win their matches 1 up. Trey Walker also won his match 1 up after a tie on hole 18. Rodrigue Vie had the hot hand in the morning, winning his match 6 & 5.

PM Match (Semifinals)
BGSU wins 4-2 over Eastern Michigan
There was not much drama down the stretch in this one as the Falcons closed out the Eagles in four matches before reaching the 18th hole. Noah Firestone had a big win in the afternoon, closing out his match 6 & 4. Max Rispler bounced back to secure a point with a 2 & 1 win while Heredia Iglesias finished out an undefeated day with a 4 & 3 victory. Also undefeated on the day was Trey Walker, tallying the final win for the Falcons at 2 & 1.

Overall, every player on the Falcons won at least one match today and will play in the championship tomorrow against the Miami RedHawks. The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
