Falcons Finish Runner Up In The Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Tournament

Miami (OH) gets past BGSU to claim the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play tournament
DADE CITY, Fla. – After an impressive run, the Bowling Green State University men's golf team lost in the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play final to Miami University on Tuesday morning by a score of 0-4-2.
BGSU fell in the final match 0-4-2 after a close battle with conference rival, Miami. Coming into the 17th hole, the Falcons were still in the hunt to win but the RedHawks guaranteed at least a tie in four matches to clinch the team title. Noah Firestone won his final hole of the round to secure a half point and finish unbeaten for the week at 2-0-1. Also halving his match was Max Rispler, who finished the week at 1-1-1. Pablo Heredia Iglesias and Trey Walker came up just short to lose for the first time in the tournament.
The Falcons advanced to the championship match after beating Ohio and Eastern Michigan in the first two rounds of the match play tournament yesterday, winning 5-1 and 4-2, respectively.Â
