No. 19 Buffalo Pulls Away Late To Beat BGSU In Regular Season Finale

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by the 19th-ranked University at Buffalo Bulls on Friday (March 8) night by a score of 84-73. The ballgame was played at UB's Alumni Arena in front of a record-setting crowd of 6,709 fans.
Bowling Green finishes the regular season with a record of 20-11 (12-6 MAC). Buffalo, which has won 26-straight games at home, moved to 28-3 (16-2 MAC) with the win.
Buffalo led by as many as 19 points in the first half, but the Falcons trimmed the UB lead to 13 at 43-30 at the half. The Falcons then made it a game in the second half, closing within a single point at 55-54 with 12:06 to play.
With 9:28 to play, the Bulls led by just three, 62-59, with under nine minutes left in regulation. Buffalo then closed the game on 22-14 run to get the 11-point win.
Redshirt-sophomore guard Justin Turner led the Falcons with 17 points. Senior guard Antwon Lillard and junior guard Michael Laster also scored in double figures, finishing with 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
Bowling Green will play as the No. 3 seed in the upcoming 2019 MAC Tournament. The Falcons will play the winner of a first-round matchup featuring No. 6 Eastern Michigan and No. 11 Ball State. BGSU's quarterfinal game will take place on March 14 at Quicken Loans Arena. The contest will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 6:30 p.m. contest.
