Vie, Comella Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Ryan Bednard and track and field thrower Kaila Butler.
Male Athlete of the Week
Rodrigue Vie, a sophomore from Epinal, France, shot a -1 (69-72-141) to tie for third out of 88 golfers at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate. He had nine birdies over two days and posted the best individual finish for any Falcon this year. Vie was one of only 10 golfers to shoot a sub-70 round during the tournament and his first-round 69 was tied for the second-lowest score among all golfers.Â
Female Athlete of the Week
Paula Comella, a senior from Ciutadella de Menorca, Spain, won twice in BGSU Tennis' 4-3 loss to MAC leader, Miami. Comella paired with Marharita-Sophia Tavpash in No. 1 doubles to win 6-1, putting the Falcons in position to win the doubles point. At No. 1 singles, Comella was able to overcome losing the first set 6-4, to storm back to win the second and third sets, 6-0, 6-2 respectively. The win came against Miami's Brindtha Ramasamy, who is ranked second in the MAC for singles play according to r2sports.com.
