Men’s Basketball Inks Trey Diggs To National Letter Of Intent

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program, along with head coach Michael Huger, have announced the signing of Trey Diggs (Niceville, Florida / Niceville High School / Florida Southern / Northwest Florida State) to a National Letter of Intent. The program announced his signing on Thursday, April 18.
Diggs is a 6-foot-5 guard that is immediately eligible for the 2019-20 season. Diggs has two years of eligibility remaining for BGSU after spending the previous two seasons at Florida Southern (NCAA Division II) and national-power Northwest Florida State (JUCO).

On the basketball court, he has an incredible ability to shoot the ball with deep range. His release is so quick that it is hard for opponents to help off of him. He is a high IQ player with great fundamentals, and he knows how to affect the game in multiple ways. At 6-foot-5 with a strong frame, he has a great deal of versatility and can score at a high rate. We targeted Trey early because he is a perfect fit for our offensive system. A proven winner everywhere he's been, Trey was highly recruited and will make an immediate impact this upcoming season."
Diggs choose Bowling Green over Wichita State, St. Bonaventure, Troy, Samford, McNeese State, Drake, Lamar, Gardner-Webb, Texas State, Cal State Fullerton, East Carolina, Georgia State and Missouri State, among others.
Over the course of his two seasons of college basketball, Diggs has shot 40.3 percent (144-for-357) from three-point range. The soon-to-be Falcon has been nearly automatic from the free throw line, going 45-of-51 (88.2 percent) from the charity stripe across the past two seasons.
During the 2018-19 season, while at Northwest Florida State, Diggs played a huge role in the Raiders' 28-5 season. Diggs was named Second Team All-Conference as Northwest Florida State won a Region VIII Championship, earned the No. 1 seed in the NJCAA National Tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight. Diggs played in all 33 games, averaging 7.7 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 39.3 percent (68-for-173) from three-point range. In league play, Diggs was 27-for-64 (42.2 percent) from downtown.
In 8-of-9 games in 2018-19 when Diggs played at least 20 minutes, he connected on multiple triples and shot at least 40.0 percent from deep. In the one game that he didn't shoot at least 40.0 percent from beyond the arc, which was the final game of the season, Diggs went 3-for-8 (37.5 percent). Diggs shined coming off the bench on a loaded team. NWF State had several Division I kids on this year's roster, including Oregon commit Chris Duarte, who is the No. 1-rated junior college player in the country.
In Digg's first season of college basketball in 2017-18, he averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 rebounds as Florida Southern went 21-11. The Floridian played in 31 games and shot 41.3 percent (76-for-184) from three-point territory. Similar to his 2018-19 campaign, Diggs' three-point numbers improved as the season went on. Diggs shot 42.2 percent (49-for-116) from deep in conference play.
A graduate of Niceville High School, Diggs averaged 20.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as a senior. He led Niceville to back-to-back district titles as a junior and senior. Voted as the team MVP as a senior, Diggs also lettered in football and track at NHS.
