The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team has finished group play in the Columbus Crew S.C. Spring League with a perfect 3-0 record. Head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons wrapped up the round-robin portion of the spring league's schedule with an emphatic 8-1 win over Purdue Fort Wayne inside Doyt Perry Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The eight-goal onslaught saw Chris Brennan score three times, while Charlie Maciejewski had a pair of goals vs. the Mastodons. Jensen Lukacsko, Ike Swiger and Zach Buescher all found the back of the net as well vs. PFW.
BGSU will meet Ohio State, the winner of the Black Group, in the Columbus Crew S.C. Spring League's championship match on Sunday (April 14).
The Crew S.C. Spring League consists of two groups of four teams. Each team plays the other three teams in the group, and all eight teams will converge upon Columbus on Sunday, where the coinciding seeds will match up (the first-place team in the Gold group plays the first-place team in the Black group, second-place Gold group team plays second-place Black group team, etc.).
Earlier in the schedule, BGSU picked up wins over Cleveland State and Dayton. BG won at CSU, 3-1, with Maciejewski scoring twice and Kale Nichols adding a goal. Then, a second-half tally by Buescher gave the Falcons a 1-0 win over UD.
Sunday's BGSU-OSU match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Fortress Obetz, a 6,500-seat stadium on the site of the former Columbus Motor Speedway. The Falcons' match is the fourth of the day, as Purdue Fort Wayne takes on Cincinnati at 10:00 a.m., followed by Dayton-Northern Kentucky at 12:30 p.m., Cleveland State-Marshall at 3:00 p.m. and the Falcons and Buckeyes wrapping up the quadrupleheader.
Following the OSU contest, BGSU will conclude the spring slate with two matches at Cochrane Stadium. The Falcons will face Tiffin on Friday, April 19. Then, a veritable plethora of former Falcon men's soccer standouts return to town on Saturday, April 27, for the team's annual Alumni Match. BGSU ended the 2018 season with an overall record of 6-7-4, and the Falcons posted a 2-1-2 mark in Mid-American Conference play. BG, picked to place fifth in the six-team conference, finished second and earned a first-round bye for the league tourney. The Falcons have finished second in the league twice in the last three seasons. BG went 5-1-2 over the final eight contests of the regular season, including a six-match unbeaten streak, the program's longest since 1997.
