Lemke, Platts Recognized By CSCAA For Academic Success
July 24, 2019 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Last month, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recognized the BGSU Women's Swimming and Diving team as Scholar All-American. The team's 3.69 GPA was the eighth-highest in Division I. The CSCAA has announced two Falcons received individual recognition. Talisa Lemke and Daisy Platts were both recognized as Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans.
Under first-year coach Rickey Perkins, Lemke and Platts saw success at the 2019 MAC Championships. Lemke, a junior, won the 1-meter and 3-meter dive to earn first team All-MAC. Platts, a freshman, placed first in the 200 Backstroke to join Lemke on the All-MAC first team. Both student-athletes achieved a grade point average above 3.50 while participating in the Swimming and Diving Championships.
"This is our highest honor and recognizes swimmers and divers who have achieved excellence in the pool and the classroom," remarked Greg Earhart, executive director of the CSCAA. "It is because of leaders like Coach Perkins that swimming and diving enjoys this culture of excellence, and it is because of support from institutions like Bowling Green that we can create graduates equipped to take on the world in and out of the pool."
The BGSU swimming and diving program went 8-5 overall in 2018-2019, including a perfect 5-0 record at home in Cooper Pool. Lemke and Platts will both return to compete for the Falcons in 2019-2020. The Falcons open the 2019-2020 season on September 21 with the annual Orange vs. Brown meet. The event begins at noon in Cooper Pool.
