North, Shuble Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's golfer Tom North and women's cross country runner Katerina Shuble.

Male Athlete of the Week
Tom North, a junior from Batley, West Yorkshire, England, tied for fourth among 74 total players in his BGSU debut at the Raising Canes Invitational. He helped the Falcons finish fourth in the tournament overall. North jumped up 19 spots on Sunday tying an individual round best for the Falcons with a final round score of 68 to finish in the top five along with teammate Rodrigue Vie. The England native shot a steady 71-72-68 over the three days including shooting 12 birdies. North was tied for second among all 74 players with a Par 3 scoring average of 2.92.

Female Athlete of the Week
Katerina Shuble, a sophomore from LaPorte, Ind., would finish first for the Falcons at 29th place overall with a time of 22.42.2 out of 291 runners in the 2019 Spartan Invitational last Friday (Sept. 13). Racing for the first time this year, Shuble led the team to a fifth place finish out of a field of 26 teams. Shuble showed improvement in all 6k events as the season progressed a year ago, and this was just her first race this year.
