
Falcons Best Xavier At Queen City Classic

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program captured a win against Xavier in Cincinnati to begin the weekend for the Falcons at the Queen City Classic. The win marks the sixth of the season for Bowling Green as the team prepares for Cincinnati tomorrow, the final non-conference match of the season on BGSU's schedule. Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- Bowling Green jumped out to an early lead in the first set against the Musketeers, creating a seven point cushion, 16-9, before Xavier called the first timeout of the match.
- Following the timeout, Xavier went on a 5-0 run to force another timeout, this one being called by the Bowling Green bench.Â
- After the BGSU timeout, the Falcons stormed back to claim the first set to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Trailing 23-14 in the second set, BGSU utilized a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to two and forcing a timeout by Xavier.Â
- Despite the run, the Musketeers were able to hold on to the set, winning 25-22 to even the match at one set a piece.Â
- Bowling Green battled back in the third set, holding a steady lead throughout before solidifying the set win at 25-21.
- In the fourth set, the Falcons dominated, holding Xavier to just 13 points.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- During the second set, senior Isabelle Marciniak recorded her 20th dig of the game, notching the first 20-20 double-double of the season by a Falcon. Marciniak would finish with 42 assists and a career-high 23 digs.
- Freshman Petra Indrova led Bowling Green in kills with 16, but was followed closely by teammates Jacqueline Askin (14), Katelyn Meyer (13) and Katie Kidwell (10).
- Matching her career-high in digs, Julia Walz logged 31 in the match to lead the team in the category.Â
- Also on the defensive side, Kidwell registered six block assists for the Orange and Brown.

- Bowling Green will continue the Queen City Classic on Saturday (Sept. 21), facing Cincinnati with a noon start time.Â
- Following the two games in Cincinnati this weekend, the Falcons will begin conference play, taking on Ohio and Kent State on Sept. 27 and 28 respectively.Â
