Volleyball Opens Home Slate With Two Victories At Hampton Inn Bowling Green Invitational

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program opened up their play in the Hampton Inn Bowling Green Invitational with a 3-0 sweep against Charlotte before taking the victory against Butler as well, winning in three straight sets after just falling short in the first. The two wins move the Falcons record to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 when defending the Stroh Center.

Play-By-Play Notes
v. Charlotte
- After a 10-10 start to the match in the first set, the Falcons used a 4-0 run to take a commanding four point lead in the set.Â
- Charlotte responded with two points before another Falcon run, this time 5-0, gave BGSU a 19-12 advantage, setting them up for a 25-15 win.
- In the second set, the Falcons continued their dominance allowing just nine points to the 49ers while registering a hitting percentage of .419.
- Again in the third set, BGSU held the 49ers to just 10 points while increasing their hitting percentage to .447.
- The hitting percentage of .447 is the highest mark for Bowling Green since 2016 when the team hit .468 against UMass Lowell.Â
- The first set started slow for the Falcons, but a 4-0 run followed by a 5-0 still wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.Â
- The Orange and Brown came out to the second set on fire, settling into a groove for a 25-11 set final.
- As for the third set, BGSU and Butler went back and forth, but Bowling Green kept the advantage to secure the lead.
- In the fourth set, the Falcons fell behind 6-5, but utilized a 9-0 run to take a 14-6 lead before losing out the set in what culminated to be a 20-8 run.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
v. Charlotte
- In the first set alone, senior Isabelle Marciniak nearly logged half of her assists, tallying 15 in the set. Overall, she would total 36 for the match.Â
- Fellow freshmen Petra Indrova and Lexi Sauber combined for 20 kills on the match with each registering a hitting percentage north of .600. Sauber led the team in hitting percentage with a .692 mark.Â
- Katelyn Meyer logged 17 kills against Butler, including six in the final set, marking the second time this season she has surpassed 15 kills after notching 18 against Wright State, a career high.
- Isabelle Marciniak was attributed 43 assists on the game as the team's setter, while not committing a setting error.
- In the digs department, Julia Walz led the Falcons, racking up 23 over the course of the match.Â
- Katie Kidwell pitched in a team high four blocks in a match where the Falcons logged 10 as a team.Â
