September 08, 2019 | Women's Soccer
BGSU falls, 2-0, in Ann Arbor
The University of Michigan broke through with a pair of late goals, downing the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team by a 2-0 count on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 8). The non-conference match was held at U-M Soccer Stadium.
In her first collegiate start, freshman Becky Moss made six saves, including several of the spectacular variety, for the Falcons (2-2-1)
U-M (4-2-0) got a goal from Raleigh Loughman at the 79:29 mark, and Skylar Anderson's header just over two minutes later gave the hosts some breathing room.
QUOTING COACH MATT FANNON
"We're all very disappointed with the result. The first half was very even, but we gave away two poor goals late on. Overall, the performance was good, but we need to consistently take care of the big moments better in these kinds of matches."
FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
• 2' | Senior Chelsee Washington played a ball into the box, and the low shot/cross headed toward the far post, but was just out of reach of a lunging Nikki Cox.
• 10' | Junior Sophia Barnes won a free kick on left side, but senior Maureen Kennedy's kick was grabbed by U-M 'keeper Hillary Beall
• 14' | U-M won a corner kick, but that short corner was blown up by Nikki Cox
