Daeqwon Plowden Named MAC East Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Daeqwon Plowden, a junior forward on the BGSU men's basketball team, was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week. The league office announced the news on Monday (Jan. 20) afternoon. Plowden led the Falcons to a 2-0 week with wins over Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.
On the week, Plowden shot 60.0 percent (12-of-20) from the floor and 55.5 percent (5-of-9) from downtown. Plowden averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 rebounds. Plowden began the week with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting in a road win at Western Michigan. The junior had six rebounds in the contest, as well, and went 2-for-3 from deep. Plowden then logged his sixth double-double of the season in a win over Northern Illinois, as he finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds. In the victory over the Huskies, Plowden connected on 3-of-6 attempts from three-point range.
The Falcons are on a league-best four-game win streak. Bowling Green is tied atop of the MAC standings -- along with Akron and Ball State -- with 4-1 records. Bowling Green is set to take on Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. inside the Stroh Center on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Richaun Holmes will be in the building for Richaun Holmes Night. The former Falcon star is currently having a breakout season with the Sacramento Kings.
