Javontae Campbell Named To Early Season Watch List For Lou Henson Award

Award Presented Annually To Top Mid-Major Player In Division I College Basketball
BOSTON, Mass. - CollegeInsider.com announced the 'Early Season Watch List' for the 2025-26 Lou Henson Award. Bowling Green senior guard Javontae Campbell was among the players named to the watch list. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball. Campbell is the third Falcon to be named to the watch list, joining Marcus Hill (2024) and Justin Turner (2019, 2021).
The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of CollegeInsider.com.The 2026 award will be announced in Indianapolis, Ind., site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship. Campbell was one of five players from the Mid-American Conference named to the list, joined by Akron's Tavari Johnson, Buffalo's Daniel Freitag, Kent State's Delrecco Gillespie and Miami (OH)'s Evan Ipsaro.
So far this season, Campbell has further established himself as a defensive force. He is averaging a nation-leading 3.6 steals per game and is on pace to break the MAC single-season record for steals in a season. Campbell is also leading the Falcons in assists per game, averaging 3.7 per contest. As for scoring, Campbell is averaging a team-leading 16.0 points per game, which ranks eighth in the conference.

Campbell and the Falcons will begin conference competition this weekend with their first Mid-American Conference matchup of the season. Bowling Green will head on the road to take on the Ohio Bobcats Saturday (Dec. 20) with a 4 p.m. tip. Â
