Each week, the BGSU Strategic Communications Department breaks down the week ahead in athletics and recaps the week gone by. Listed below are all games over the course of the next seven days with links and information for fans. Following that info are recaps, scores and links from games over the past week.
THE WEEK AHEAD

BG Falcon Hockey is set for three games this week, including the final true non-conference game of the season and the first WCHA series. The week will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 29 against Robert Morris at the Slater Family Ice Arena to conclude a home-and-home series. The first game took place back on Dec. 1 in a matchup that finished in a 6-3 final favoring the Falcons. From there, the Orange and Brown will transition to a conference series against Ferris State on Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 2 & 3) to begin the 2021 calendar as well as conference play. The two teams met earlier this season in a non-conference home-and-home series that saw the Falcons capture a weekend sweep by scores of 3-2 and 6-2. Bowling Green will enter this week's slate of games as the No. 9 team in the country according to the USCHO poll, being the highest ranking for the program since March of 2015. Additionally, the Falcons are 8-1 so far this season, the fourth best start in program history, as well as 16-1-2 over their last 19 games dating back to last season.Â

The Falcons resume Mid-American Conference play this week with a pair of road games. Bowling Green will travel to Athens for a 2 p.m. game against Ohio on Dec. 30 before a Jan. 2 contest at Northern Illinois at 6 p.m. BGSU opened league play on Dec. 6 with an 86-78 victory over Buffalo inside of the Stroh Center. The Falcons are 5-2 on the season and most recently earned a 20-point victory at Robert Morris on Dec. 18. The Orange and Brown have five players averaging at least 10.0 points in 2020-21, led by fifth-year senior Justin Turner's average of 22.0 points per game. Fellow senior Daeqwon Plowden is averaging 12.7 points and a team-high 9.1 rebounds.Â

The Falcons look to continue a successful start to the 2020-21 season this weekend, as BGSU opens the January schedule with a trip to Muncie. Coach Robyn Fralick's club ended the December slate with a 71-66 win over Miami at the Stroh Center (Dec. 22). First-year FalconLexi Fleming scored 26 points, the highest total of her young career, against the RedHawks, while fellow freshmen Nyla Hampton and Kenzie Lewis joined Fleming in double digits in the scoring column. Hampton, playing her second game, had her second-straight 11-point outing, while Lewis had 10 points, posting the second double-figure scoring game of her BGSU career. That trio of first-year Falcons combined to score 16 of their team's 19 points in the fourth quarter, and 25 of BG's final 28 points of the game. The Falcons are looking to snap a 10-game Cardinal series winning streak. Last year's lone meeting saw BSU capture an overtime thriller at the Stroh.
