Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Football Coach Scot Loeffler last week announced the final commits to the 2020 BGSU recruiting class. After announcing 27 players in December, Loeffler and his staff added four more for a total of 31 student-athletes. The class is ranked second in the Mid-American Conference, according to 24/7. Notes from the class are listed below:

BY THE NUMBERS
- With 31 commits, BG had the largest recruiting class of any school in the MAC.
- With 15 commits from Ohio, this recruiting class has the most signees from the state of Ohio in more than a decade.
- This is the first class to have two quarterbacks since 2017.
- With 20 three star recruits, according to 24/7, BG is tied for second among MAC schools with the amount of three star recruits signed.
- Four high schools are represented with two players each. Billie Roberts and Jordan Porter both hail from Muskegon (Mich.) High School, while Joey Formani and Brian Kilbane Jr. come from St. Edward (Ohio) High School. Javonte Kinsey and Jhaylin Embry both come from Sandalwood (Fla.) High School and Trent Simms and Matt Fortner played at Sylvania Northview (Ohio).
- The 31 player recruiting class is the largest class over the last decade.
- BGSU emphasized adding players in the trenches, signing 11 linemen (six on the offensive line and five on the defensive line).
- BGSU added three players with the last name Brown – Dontrez (Fremont Ross HS), Gabriel (East Kentwood Mich. HS) and JB (Har-Ber Ark. HS).
- No fewer than three members of the class are legacy commits – Bryce Boyer (a fourth-generation Falcon football player), Riley Keller (whose mother and father were BGSU student-athletes) and Trent Simms (whose father played football at BGSU).
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
- Tucker Melton is the top rated quarterback from the state of Alabama according to 24/7.
- Deshawn Jones Jr. is the fourth highest ranked recruit BG has signed since 2000 according to 24/7. Melton and Billie Roberts are ninth and tenth.
NATIONAL INTEREST
- Deshawn Jones Jr. had interest from nearly half of the MAC as well as power five schools such as Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers and Cincinnati.
- Tight end Levi Gazarek chose BGSU over Michigan State and Maryland.
- Riley Keller had offers from Iowa State, Ole Miss and West Virginia.
- Billie Roberts chose Bowling Green over Boston College, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse and Tennessee.
- Jeremiah Banks-Wall drew interest from Syracuse as did Javonte Kinsey from Cincinnati and Charles Rosser from Rutgers.
- Brian Kilbane Jr. had scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Indiana and Rutgers.
- The class consisted of players from the states of Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky.
TEAM RANKINGS
- BG jumped from 12th to second in the MAC and 129th to 85th nationally in recruiting rankings from last year to this year according to 24/7.
- With the second ranking position in the MAC, according to 24/7, it's the first time since 2017 that the class has been ranked that high.
- BGSU had ranked higher than No. 85 nationally just twice since 2003 (No. 80 in both 2013 and 2017).
- This is the seventh time since 2002 that Bowling Green has recorded the No. 2 recruiting class in the MAC, according to 24/7.
