Men’s Golf Defeats Ball State To Finish 2-1 At Earl Yestingmeier Match Play

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Earl Yestingmeier Match Play Tuesday (Feb. 11) with a victory over Ball State in the fifth-place match. After a 1-1 day yesterday, that included a win over Xavier, the Falcons defeated the Cardinals by a score of 4-2 today.

Bowling Green finishes 2-1 for the tournament with back-to-back wins after dropping their opening match versus Drake by a score of 4-2.

Rodrigue Vie closed out the match play event undefeated, going 3-0 with a win each round. Tom North, Nick Hofland and Ward Kyle all won their matches, as well. Vie was just one of two golfers to record two eagles for the entirety of the event. Nick Hofland and Tom North were second and third in total pars with 36 and 35, respectively.

This was the first tournament of the spring for BG -- there will be seven total for the spring campaign.

"We didn't have the start we wanted against Drake and they kind of took it to us in the first round. The team responded very well and really played like we had something to prove against Xavier and Ball State. It was great to finish the event with two wins, one being against a conference rival we know will be in the mix at the end of the season."
