MAC Title For Lemke, School Record For Platts Highlight Day Two For Falcons
February 27, 2020 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Buffalo, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University swim and dive team continued competition at the 2020 MAC Championships with strong performances from Talisa Lemke and Daisy Platts. Lemke won the 1 meter dive with a score of 327.42, her third consecutive MAC title in the event and fourth career MAC title. Her score also set the Alumni Arena Pool record. Platts finished third in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 1:58.83. That time is now the program record, breaking her previous mark of 1:59.64 from the 2019 Magnus Cup.
Backing Lemke on the 1 meter board was sophomore Kylie Mosset, who placed tenth. Her score of 256.26 was 36 points higher than her preliminary score and her tenth place finish is 11 spots higher than her finish at the 2019 MAC Championships. Maddy Andrews and Kellie House joined Mosset as "B" Finalists, both in the 500-yard freestyle. The duo nearly tied in the consolation final, with Andrews taking 15th at 4:58.43 and House placing 16th at 4:58.44.
The final event of Day Two was the 200-yard freestyle relay, which featured Daisy Platts, Anna Eriksson, Lauren Sullivan, and Noelle Lavigne. The quartet earned a fifth place finish with a time of 1:32.99. Once again, Eriksson had a blistering split, swimming her leg in 22.82. This split is faster than her split of 23.09 from last night's 200-yard medley relay, a time that is also the school's individual 50 free record.
After today's competition, the Falcons moved up to fifth place overall with 128 points. They trail fourth-place Miami by 15 points, with tomorrow featuring five individual swimming events, one relay event, and the 3 meter diving prelims and consolations.
