Lemke Breaks School Record As Battle Of I-75 Reaches Halfway Point
February 07, 2020 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's swim and dive team finished part one of the Battle of I-75, trailing UT 80-87. In the evening's only diving event, Talisa Lemke finished first and broke the program's 1 meter dive record with a score of 346.80. The senior, who also holds the school's 3 meter dive record, has won 14 diving events this season. Kylie Mosset also gave a career-best performance on the 1 meter board, scoring 305.00. This is the first time the sophomore has scored over 300 in a diving event. The duo will compete at the NCAA Diving Zones for the second consecutive year.
The Falcons started the evening quickly, taking first place in the first three events. The 400-yard medley relay team of Daisy Platts, Taylor Harris, Sarah Hennings, and Anna Eriksson finished in 3:49.61 to win their sixth medley relay of the year. Maddy Andrews followed with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle, taking first in 5:03.95. Kellie House backed Andrews with a second-place finish, touching the wall at 5:05.55. In a tightly raced 100-yard breaststroke, freshman Taylor Harris edged a pair of Rockets to win her second event of the year. Her time of 1:06.05 was just 0.13 seconds faster than the runner-up, and only 0.39 seconds ahead of the third-place racer.
After Sarah Hennings and Anna Eriksson took second and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, Daisy Platts earned a victory in the 100-yard backstroke. Her time of 55.28 is the tenth-fastest in school history, giving her six of the top ten times in the 100 backstroke. Five of those times are from this season, and Platts has 12 top 10 event times this season. Maddy Andrews gave another strong freestyle performance, finishing third in the 200 with a time of 1:55.43. Platts and Meghan Burnard took second and third in the 400-yard individual medley. Platts had a time of 4:30.35 and Burnard finished in 4:39.91, the fastest time of her four-year career. The evening concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay, which saw the Falcon Relay team of Platts, Eriksson, Noelle Lavigne, and Gillian Boal place second in 1:36.01.

Coach's Quote
"It's a great meet, very competitive on both sides. I think we match up well with each other. I think tomorrow's going to be our better day because we're better at the 200s than we are at the 100s, so hopefully we can pull it out. I'm happy with the way we finished races today, that's something I'm very pleased with. It shows in our training, we've been training really hard and we were able to bring it home. Maddy's 500 was great, the last 25 of Daisy's 100 backstroke was great, Taylor was the fastest in the last 50 of her breaststroke. It was awesome to see Talisa and Kylie do great and have Meghan Burnard bring home her best time. Tomorrow is going to be exciting."
