JUMP BALL
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team wraps up the regular-season schedule with a trip to Northeast Ohio this weekend. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will play the second of three true road contests in a six-day span, taking on the University of Akron on Saturday (March 7). The Falcons and Zips will meet in a 2:00 p.m. tip at Rhodes Arena.
THE STARTING FIVE (FIVE FUN & FASCINATING FALCON FACTS)
• The Falcons are coming off of an 82-69 win at Miami on Wednesday night (March 4). BGSU has won two of the last three games, with double-digit victories over Ohio and MU and a double-overtime loss to Kent State in that time.
• BGSU is averaging 83.3 points per game over the last three contests, with a scoring margin of +5.7 and a rebounding margin of +8.0 in that time.
• Fourth-year Falcon Caterrion Thompson, after exploding for a career-high 32 points in the KSU game, led all players with 22 points and 12 rebounds at Miami. Thompson is averaging 23.7 points and 8.7 boards per game over the last three contests.
• Freshmen Olivia Trice and Elissa Brett combined for 27 points and 16 rebounds in the win at Miami. Trice is averaging 11.3 ppg, good for third on the team, over the last three contests. Brett has 8.0 rpg, ranking third on the Falcons, in that span.
• Junior Angela Perry had 21 points at Miami, her second-straight game of 20 or more points and her team-high 10th such game this season. Perry, who is 19-for-30 (63.3%) from the floor over the last two games, has made eight or more field goals on 10 occasions this season.
SENIOR DAY RECOGNITION
THE ZIPS
• Akron is 14-14 overall, and the Zips enter Saturday's game with a 7-10 record in league action. UA has won four of the last six games, but the Zips are coming off of a 76-61 home loss to Buffalo on Wednesday night.
• UA is 6-7 at home, 6-7 on the road and 2-0 in neutral-site matchups this year to date. In MAC action, the Zips are 3-5 in home games and went 4-5 in hostile venues.
• Haliegh Reinoehl leads the Zips in both scoring and rebounding, with 14.9 ppg and 8.0 rpg, while Jordyn Dawson has 13.6 ppg and 7.4 rpg to rank second in both categories. Reinoehl has made a team-high 42 three-pointers this season.
• Head coach Melissa Jackson returned eight letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's team. The 2018-19 Zips finished with records of 16-15 overall and 7-11 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Akron, 55-10, in the all-time series, but UA has captured each of the last three meetings, including this year's first matchup. The Zips used a late run to pick up a 76-73 win (Jan. 11, 2020).
• In the last meeting in Akron, the Zips captured a 74-71 thriller last season (Jan. 12, 2019). Prior to that game, BGSU had won four-straight games vs. the Zips.
• The Falcons won the first 26 series matchups, saw Akron take two of the next five games, then won 19 more in a row before a UA win in January of 2013.
• BGSU is 29-4 in home games, 24-6 in road contests and 2-0 in neutral-site meetings vs. the Zips over the years.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the Akron game, the Falcons will return to the road to play a first-round game in the MAC Tournament. The league tourney begins on Monday (March 9), with BGSU's opponent still to be determined.
• Monday's winner will advance to the MAC Tournament's quarterfinal round, which is set for Wednesday (March 11) at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in downtown Cleveland.
