JUMP BALL
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich., as the Mid-American Conference Tournament gets underway. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will play a third true road game in a six-day span, taking on Western Michigan University in league tourney first-round action on Monday night (March 9). Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at University Arena.
THE STARTING FIVE (FIVE FUN & FASCINATING FALCON FACTS)
• BG enters the league tournament having won two of the last four games. BGSU scored more than 80 points in three consecutive games in that span, sandwiching double-digit victories over Ohio and MU around a double-overtime loss to Kent State.
• The Falcons are coming off of a 70-61 loss at Akron on Saturday (March 4). BGSU fell behind by 19, but battled back to within a single point before succumbing.
• In that Akron game, junior Madisen Parker went 6-for-8 from three-point range. Parker now has made 97 three-pointers this season, a new school record. She was 5-for-5 from the arc in the third quarter alone vs. the Zips.
• With her prolific performance at Akron, Parker once again leads the entire nation in three-point field-goal percentage. She has connected on 47.8 percent of her long-distance shots this season.
• Freshman Elissa Brett had 11 rebounds and seven assists, the highest totals of her young career in each category, at Akron. Brett, who played all 40 minutes vs. the Zips, is averaging 10.0 rebounds per game over the last three contests.
THE FALCONS IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
• BGSU enters Monday's WMU game with an all-time record of 44-24 in MAC Tournament contests. The Falcons have won 11 league tournament titles, the most of any conference institution, and BG has the second-highest winning percentage (.647) of any team in league tourney games. BGSU's conference tournament win total also places the Falcons second among MAC teams. A complete list of BGSU's game-by-game results in MAC Tournament play can be found in the PDF version of these notes.
THE BRONCOS
• Western Michigan is 17-12 overall, and the Broncos posted a 10-8 MAC record to finish third in the West Division and earn the fifth seed for the league tournament. WMU has won six of the last eight games.
• WMU is 9-4 at home, 6-7 on the road and 2-1 in neutral-site matchups this year to date. In MAC action, the Broncos went 6-3 at University Arena and 4-5 at hostile venues.
• Jordan Walker leads the Broncos with 15.8 ppg, while Breanna Mobley is averaging a double-double, with 13.9 ppg and 10.8 rpg this year. Mobley leads the MAC and ranks among the nation's top-20 players in rebounding, offensive rebounds (4.3 per game) and double-doubles (17).
• Head coach Shane Clipfell returned seven letterwinners, including three starters, from a 2018-19 Bronco squad that finished with records of 10-20 overall and 4-14 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead WMU, 36-34, in the all-time series – BGSU leads the series with each of the other 11 MAC teams, but the BG-WMU series is the closest.
• The teams split this year's regular-season meetings, as the Falcons captured a 72-63 decision at the Stroh Center (Jan. 22) to snap Western's 10-game series winning streak, before the Broncos posted a 69-55 victory a month later (Feb. 19).
• The Falcons are 19-14 at home, 14-19 on the road and 3-1 at neutral sites vs. the Broncos over the years.
DOWN THE ROAD
• The BGSU-WMU winner will head to downtown Cleveland to face fourth-seeded Ohio in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament on Wednesday (March 11), in the second of four quarterfinal games at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse that day.
• The league tourney semifinals are set for Friday (March 13), with the championship to be held on Saturday (March 14).
