Theocharidis Named WCHA Defenseman Of The Week

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced weekly awards Monday afternoon (March 9). Of those named, Tim Theocharidis earned the Defenseman of the Week for the conference, being the first time this season he has been recognized, and the first time in his collegiate career with the Falcons.  Â

In the first round of the WCHA playoffs against Alaska, Theocharidis tallied a three-point performance on Friday, registering a point on three of the Falcons' four goals in the 4-2 win. Theocharidis' day began with an assist on Alex Barber's goal before he scored a goal of his own, coming on the power play and also scored as the game-winner for the Falcons. Theocharidis then capped his day by assisting on another score. The multiple assist game was his first of the season and second of his career while the three points was his first time tallying at least three points in a single game while in the Orange and Brown.Â
With the sweep over Alaska, the Falcons advanced to the semifinals of the WCHA playoffs where they will face Bemidji State this weekend in a best-of-three series on March 13-15. Friday's game is set for a 8:07 p.m. EST pck drop while Saturday and Sunday, if needed, will be 7:07 p.m. puck drop.Â
