Crampton's Goal Earns BGSU a Sweep in First CCHA Series

SAULT. STE MARIE, Mich. – The BGSU ice hockey team closed out its CCHA opening series at Lake Superior State University on Saturday, Oct. 25, winning the contest 3-2. Rihards Simanovics got his first goal as a Falcon to open the scoring, Tyler Hotson notched his second of the season, and Brayden Crampton's drive from the blue line turned out to be the game winner early in the third period.

- Rihards Simanovics gave the Falcons the lead with 7:00 left in the first on a shot from the top of the right circle, beating the Lakers goaltender.
- Lake Superior State took the lead with 13:39 remaining in the second period, just seconds into a power play.
- Tyler Hotson converted a one-timer on a pass from Ben Doran just seconds into the Falcon Power play with 6:54 remaining in the second period.
- Brayden Crampton fired a slapshot past the Lake State goaltender just 2:34 into the third period, giving the Falcons a 3-2 lead
- Freshman goaltender Jacob Steinman earned his first start of the season, making 31 saves and helping the Falcons to their second win of the season.
- Ben Doran added two assists to his tally.
- Freshman Brayden Crampton gave the Falcons a 3-2 lead early in the third with a drive from the blue line.
