NOMINATE FOR THE ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME TODAY
Newly eligible student-athletes for 2020
"We take great pride in our public process as it is critical to generating the most representative, diverse, and talented pool of nominees for consideration by our selection committee," BGSU Senior Associate Athletics Director Kit Hughes said. "Every great induction class begins with a deep and accomplished group of nominees, and we appreciate and welcome the participation of our loyal fans, alumni and supporters as we continue to move our Hall of Fame forward. Over the last several years we have had an opportunity to honor and celebrate some of the very best to ever walk the halls at Bowling Green State University, and I know that this year will be no different. With a new home in the Schmidthorst Heritage Hall at the Stroh Center, the Athletics Hall of Fame continues to serve as a symbol of tremendous pride and accomplishment for all Falcons."
BGSU's Athletics Hall of Fame exists to recognize Bowling Green State University's former student-athletes, teams, coaches, administrators, and special inductees who have distinguished both themselves and the University through their achievements, commitment to excellence, and their dedication to advancing the rich history, tradition and legacy of Falcon Athletics.
Â
Teams and individuals are eligible for consideration for the Hall of Fame by being nominated. In order to be eligible for the Hall of Fame, student-athletes must be ten years removed from their last date of competition at Bowling Green State University and must have earned at least one varsity letter. Teams must also be ten years removed from the last date of competition and must have attained success in honoring and elevating the reputation of legacy of BGSU.
Â
Coaches and administrators are eligible for nomination into the Hall of Fame but must be five years removed from service at BGSU. They must have served a minimum of five years and the individual's entire athletics contribution to the University will be considered. Special inductees who made consistent and significant contributions to BGSU Athletics will also be considered. Attending BGSU as a student is not a requirement but special consideration will be given to individuals who have brought recognition to his/her alma mater through significant personal and/or professional achievements.
Â
BGSU has inducted 235 individuals and two teams (the 1983-84 hockey national champions and the 1959 football national champions) to the Hall of Fame. In 2018, BGSU athletics inducted Kate Achter (Women's Basketball), Liz Honegger (Women's Basketball), Kory Lichtensteiger (Football), John Smith (Wrestling) and Dr. Ron Zwierlein (Swim/Dive, Administrator).
Â
