Falcons Head South to Oxford for MACtion on Tuesday Night at Miami

Falcons Continue MACtion at Miami
• Bowling Green State University returns to the road for the final time in 2021 on Tuesday night to face the Miami (OH) RedHawks in MACtion.
• It is the 75th meeting between the Falcons and the RedHawks in a series that started in 1941.
• The game will be broadcast LIVE on ESPNU with an 8 p.m. kick.

Bowling Green vs. Miami (OH)
• Bowling Green continues Mid-American Conference action on Tuesday when the Falcons head to Oxford to take on the RedHawks.
• Miami (OH) leads the all-time series with the BGSU, 45-24-5.
• Since 2000, Bowling Green is 4-1 against MU when the Falcons hold the RedHawks below 300 yards of total offense.
• Since 2000, Bowling Green is 3-2 against MU when the Falcons accumulate 400+ yards of total offense.
• Since 2000, Bowling Green is 6-2 against MU when the Falcons win the turnover battle. They are 0-5 when they don't. And are 0-2 when the turnovers are the same.

Five Top Storylines
• PK Nate Needham is 15-of-15 on field goal attempts this season. He is one of six FBS players who is perfect on the year, but his 15 made field goals rank No. 1 in the nation among those who are perfect. A perfect 10-of-10, he leads the nation with 10 field goals from 40+ yards. Needham is a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award.
• LB Darren Anders is the only player in the nation this season with 90+ tackles (103), 3.0+ sacks (3.0), 1+ fumble recoveries (1) and 1+ interceptions (1). Anders currently ranks tied for No. 3 in the nation and is No. 1 in the MAC with 103 tackles.
• LB Brock Horne and LB Anders is the only defensive duo in the nation from the same team with each player recording 78+ tackles, 1+ sacks and 1+ interceptions.
• S Jordan Anderson leads BGSU with three interceptions, which ranks tied for No. 13 in the nation and tied for No. 1 in the MAC with four other players.
• SS Sy Dabney has blocked two punts this season (Murray State and Akron). He ranks No. 1 in the nation with two blocked kicks. He is one of 12 in the nation that shares the top spot.

The 2019 Meeting
• The last time these teams met was in 2019 and also contested in Oxford. Only 13 current Falcons able to play on Tuesday played in the game.
• The list includes: DE Karl Brooks, DT Walter Haire, FS Jordan Anderson, S Sy Dabney, WR Jake Rodgers, OT Jordan Murphy, ILB Darren Anders, PK Nate Needham, OL Chris Oliver, TE Christian Sims, K Mason Lawler, TE Andrew Bench, P Matt Naranjo.
• OG Sam Neverov and RB Trevon Raymore also played. Neverov retired earlier this season due to injuries and is a student assistant. Raymore suffered a season-ending injury before the 2021 season began.

Bowling Green - MU connections
• Miami co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Spence Nowinsky was the defensive coordinator at Illinois State in 2016 and 2017 when BGSU's Devin Taylor was a freshman and redshirt freshman.
• MU running back coach Lamar Conard was the running back coach and recruiting coordinator at Illinois State during Taylor's first two years with the FCS program.

TIME FOR MACTION
• Bowling Green is playing on Tuesday for the first time in 2021. The Falcons have games on five different days of the week in 2021, which includes: Tuesday (Miami OH), Wednesday (Toledo), Thursday (Tennessee), Friday (Ohio) and Saturday (eight other teams).

Ferguson is out for the Year
• Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler announced on Nov. 5 that CB Davon Ferguson was out for the rest of the year.
• Despite only playing 7.5 games, he is one of two players in the nation with 45+ solo tackles (45), 4+ passes defended (4), 2.0+ sacks (2.0) and 8.0+ tackles for loss (8.). Utah's Devin Lloyd is the other.
• Ferguson suffered an injury early in the EMU game. Through the first seven full games Ferguson was playing, BGSU yielded only 147.4 yards per game through the air. Since Ferguson went down the Falcons are yielding 290.7 yards per game through the air.

McDonald Elevating Game
• Since throwing three interceptions in the Eastern Michigan game, QB Matt McDonald has thrown for 786 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception over the past four games.

Rushing Game on the Rise
• After a slow start this season in the rushing game, BGSU has now rushed for 100+ yards in five-straight games.
• BGSU has rushed for 100+ yards in 22-of-27 games under head coach Scot Loeffler. Four of those games where the Falcons failed to reach 100 rushing yards came in the first five weeks of the 2021 season.

Anders Racking Up Tackles for Loss Games
• ILB Darren Anders has 8.5 tackles for loss through 10 games.
• Anders is tied for No. 3 in the nation in games with at least 1.0 TFL.
• Anders has a TFL in all BGSU games except the Minnesota and Toledo games.

Anders Having a Special Season
• Darren Anders is having a special season for the Falcons. Since 2000, he is one of seven FBS players to notch 90+ tackles (91), 8.5+ tackles for loss (8.5), 3.0+ sacks (3.0), 1+ fumble recoveries (1) and 1+ interceptions (1) through the first 10 games of the season. He is the first to notch these numbers since 2014 when Paul Dawson (TCU) and Efrem Oliphant (Houston) also reached those plateaus.
• Of the seven players since 2000 to notch these numbers through the first nine games of the season, only Anders and TCU's Dawson in 2014 also recorded a "pick-6."
