Falcons Open 2021 Spring Season In Texas At The Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team opened its 2021 spring season this week at the Border Olympics. The 54-hole event, hosted by the University of Houston, was played at Laredo Country Club over Feb. 22-23. The Falcons posted a team score of 935 in the season-opening event to finish 17th.
The strong field featured several ranked teams, including No. 9 Texas and No. 13 Baylor. Texas A&M won the event, with the Longhorns and hosts UH finishing in third.
The Falcons were led by senior Tom North, who finished T-54 by logging scores of 76-76-77. Fellow senior Nick Hofland (T-57) finished close behind with a three-day total of 80-73-77. Hofland's round-two 73 was BGSU's best round of the tournament. North and Hofland carded six birdies apiece to lead the Orange and Brown.
Bowling Green's lineup was rounded out by Ian Mackenzie-Olson (79), Ward Kyle (90) and Roni Shin (94). Mackenzie-Olson posted five birdies throughout the tournament. Shin registered four birdies, and Kyle closed his event by notching three birdies in his last 10 holes.
