Scotty Miller Set To Make Super Bowl Debut; Gehrig Dieter Looks For Second Ring

Bowling Green, Ohio – A pair of Bowling Green wide receiver alums are just days away from the Super Bowl as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs prepare to meet Sunday at 6:30 pm. Scotty Miller, in his second season in the NFL, made a huge impact in the NFC Championship game to help Tampa Bay reach the Super Bowl, while Gehrig Dieter remains a member of the Kansas City Chiefs as he looks for his second Super Bowl ring in as many years.

Miller had a breakout season with Tampa Bay, making 33 catches for 501 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. He added four more catches for 80 yards and a key touchdown in the NFL Championship game. With just one second remaining in the first half, he caught a 39-yard touchdown that gave Tampa Bay a 21-10 lead on the way to a 31-26 victory.
At Bowling Green, Miller was a three-time All-MAC performer and a MAC Champion as a freshman in 2015. He finished his career ranked third in program history in both receptions (215) and receiving yards (2,867). The final play of his college career was a 63-yard touchdown reception. Miller often played his best on the biggest stages, like when he had 13 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns at Oregon. He also had 10 catches for 117 yards at Georgia Tech.
Dieter is currently inactive for the Chiefs but is in his fourth year in the NFL, earning a Super Bowl ring with Kansas City a year ago. Originally a transfer from SMU, Dieter was a three-year member of the BGSU football team, playing two seasons after sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules. Bowling Green went to the MAC Championship game in each of his three years, winning the title in 2013 and 2015. He was second-team All-MAC in 2015 after leading the squad with 94 receptions (fourth in school history for a single season) and adding 1,038 yards. Dieter graduated from Bowling Green and completed his collegiate career at Alabama, playing in the national championship game.
