Comeback Complete: Falcons Overcome 2-0 Deficit To Top Miami

Bowling Green, Ohio. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program completed their first comeback of the season to top Miami in a 3-2 final on Friday night (Feb. 5) at the Stroh Center. After falling short in the first two sets and trailing for the first time this season, the Falcons battled back to win the next three sets and capture the victory and series sweep. The win moves Bowling Green to 6-0 early in the season, now just two MAC wins away from matching the conference start from the 2012 campaign. The Falcons will be back on the court next week as they travel to face Ball State.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- The first set began close, but it was a 4-0 run to make the score 12-8 Miami that made the difference. Smaller runs throughout the set pushed the RedHawk lead to an eventual 25-18 set win.
- In the second set, the two teams traded points for most of the set, needing extra points to decide a winner. A late 4-0 run for Miami gave them the lead at 24-23, but the Falcons fought back to force extra points with the RedHawks taking the set at 28-26.
- In the third set, the Falcons came out firing, using a 9-2 run to create an 18-11 cushion. The Bowling Green lead slipped below three just once for the rest of the set, rolling into a 25-21 set win to force a forth.
- The momentum for the Orange and Brown carried into the fourth set. While there wasn't one huge run, the Falcons were able to piece together steady bursts to create a gap on the scoreboard. In the end, the Falcons were able to force a fifth set following a 25-16 set final.
- In the fifth set, Bowling Green jumped out to a 5-0 lead. The Redhawks answered with three points before the Falcons eventually stretched the lead to 11-4.Â
- Miami battled back from there, slowly closing the gap to 14-13. However, a meeting at the net ended in a kill for Hanna Laube to clinch the set, the match, and the series sweep for the Orange and Brown.Â
Falcon Stat FactsÂ
- Petra Indrova paced the Falcons in kills on the night with a season-high 19 kills on a career-high 51 attempts. She also added 16 digs, just one away from her career-high, to log her third double-double of the season. Additionally, she was able to tally her first solo block of the season.Â
- Katelyn Meyer wasn't far behind in kills, landing 16 while attempting 51, the second-most so far this season. Meyer also set a new career-high for block assists with three in the match.Â
- Hanna Laube set a new career-high for assists with 53. She also was able to log 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Laube's stat line concluded with a career-high four kills and three block assists.Â
- For digs, Julia Walz was atop the stat sheet with a season-high 25. Walz was one of four different Falcons to register double-digit digs.
- Nikolija Katanic set a new career-high for block assists and total blocks with eight block assists on the night. Katie Kidwell wasn't far behind on the stat sheet with six of her own.
- Katrin Trebichavska also logged a career-high in block assists with four over the five sets.

Up Next
- The Falcons will take to the road next week for a pair of matches against Ball State. The first match is set for Feb. 11 and will be a 7 p.m. first serve while the second will take place on Feb. 12 and begin at 5 p.m.Â
- Bowling Green will return to the Stroh Center on Feb. 18 and 19 to host Ohio for a two-match series. The first match will start at 6 p.m. and the second at 5 p.m.Â
