Fleming, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, has started all 21 games and has helped lead one of the top turnarounds in college basketball this season. She is the leading scorer on a BGSU team that clinched the Mid-American Conference regular-season championship over the weekend, with 17.5 points per game, and the guard also has 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 steals per contest.
Fleming has scored in double digits in 20 of this season's 21 games, with eight games of 20 points or more. As of Friday, Fleming led all MAC freshmen in no fewer than 15 statistical categories, and she ranked among the top-seven freshmen in the nation in nine of those categories.
After going 10-21 overall and 3-15 in the MAC last season, the Falcons were picked to finish 11th in the 12-team league in this year's conference preseason coaches' poll. BGSU enters the final week of the regular season with an overall mark of 17-4 and a league ledger of 13-3, and as mentioned, Fleming and the Falcons have clinched the MAC's regular-season title for 2020-21.
The World Exposure Report Freshman-of-the-Year list will be narrowed to 10 finalists on March 15, before the winner is announced on April 9.
The Falcons are home for a pair of games this week, beginning with a Wednesday (March 3) matchup vs. Kent State. BGSU battles the Golden Flashes in a 7:00 p.m. start at the Stroh Center. Then, the Orange and Brown will host Buffalo on Saturday (March 6), with that Senior Day contest beginning at 2:00 p.m.
