DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team saw its 2020-21 season come to an end on Monday (March 22) in the College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals. Stetson University defeated the Falcons by a score of 53-52. The event is being played inside the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Bowling Green ends its season with an overall record of 14-12.
The Falcons led by as many as 15 points in the second half, but the game changed drastically after senior forward Daeqwon Plowden was forced to leave the game after getting tripped up. Stetson closed the game on a 15-2 run after Plowden's exit to steal the game away from the Falcons. The native of Philadelphia finished with six points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Fellow senior Trey Diggs led the Orange and Brown with 13 points. Diggs converted on 3-of-8 attempts from downtown, and has now made 109 triples since becoming a Falcon in 2019.
Redshirt-sophomore center Dylan Swingle was very active with six points, five rebounds and a career-high three blocks. Freshmen Kaden Metheny and Josiah Fulcher poured in nine points and eight points, respectively. Juniors Caleb Fields and Jacob Washington each scored four points. Freshman Cam Young contributed with two points and two rebounds while tying a career high with two assists.
COACH HUGER QUOTE
"It's definitely a learning experience for our young guys to gain some valuable experience and get a chance to play on the court. They were able to compete with extended minutes. They competed and that's what it's about … We have to now go out and recruit. We have to do a great job of filling those scholarships."
