The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team will face Ole Miss in the first round of the NCAA Championships. The 2020 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship bracket was announced on Monday afternoon (April 19).
The Falcons (6-1-0) will meet the Rebels (10-5-0) in first-round action on Tuesday, April 27, at 6:00 p.m. The match will be held at the UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C.
This will be the first-ever women's soccer meeting between BGSU and Ole Miss.
The BGSU-Ole Miss winner will advance to face #8-seeded Southern California in second-round action. That match will also take place at UNCW Soccer Stadium, on Friday, April 30, at 6:00 p.m.
BGSU returns to the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season and the fifth time in school history. The Falcons are looking for the program's first-ever win in the national tournament.
The Falcons earned the Mid-American Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships by virtue of defeating Ball State, 2-1, in Saturday night's (April 17) MAC Championship match at Cochrane Stadium.
Ole Miss earned an at-large berth to the 48-team field out of the Southeastern Conference. The Rebels went 4-4-0 in SEC play in the fall of 2020, losing a 2-1 overtime contest to LSU in the SEC Tournament back on Nov. 15. This spring, Ole Miss has gone 6-0-0 with wins over Samford, Memphis, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Arkansas State and South Alabama.
BGSU advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2004, 2005, 2018 and 2019. On all four prior occasions, the Falcons faced a Big Ten Conference opponent. BGSU has faced Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan on the road and Michigan State in neutral-site action in the national tournament.
