Falcons Picked First In East; Three Selected Preseason All-MAC

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team has been picked to finish first in the Mid-American Conference East Division this season. The preseason poll is the results of votes from the head coaches of all 12 MAC programs, as announced by the Mid-American Conference (MAC) office this morning.
The Falcons were a unanimous selection to win the East Division's regular-season crown, and they also received 10 of a possible 12 votes to win the conference tournament. The other two votes went to Kent State and Western Michigan. Central Michigan was tabbed to finish first in the West Division.
Three Falcons were named preseason first-team All-MAC. Seniors Hanna Laube and Katelyn Meyer were selected, as was junior Petra Indrova. The trio earned first-team All-MAC honors last season, with Laube being recognized as MAC Co-Setter of the Year. This is the second time Meyer has been selected to the All-MAC preseason team, with 2020-21 being her first selection.
In last season's preseason poll, BGSU was selected second in the East and received a conference-high five votes to win the MAC Tournament championship. They finished the regular season with a 20-1 mark in conference play, winning the East Division title. The Falcons also won the MAC Tournament, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

"It is a big compliment for our program to be unanimously picked by the conference coaches to win the MAC East division and get the most votes to win the MAC Tournament. Thanks to all of my colleagues who voted for us and selected our three student-athletes for the Preseason All-MAC Team.
We have worked hard to transform an underdog program into one that annually competes for the MAC Championship. However, we also understand that the work never stops, and preseason predictions are just that. The ranking that matters is the final one, which we earn every time we step on the court.
