BGSU Athletics Announces Two Internship Recipients
September 24, 2021 | General
This summer, the Bowling Green State University athletics department proudly announced a new internship program dedicated to enhance the ethnic minority and gender representation in the field of intercollegiate athletics. The Diverse Professionals Enhancement Program was created to help build a pipeline for future full-time internships and entry-level positions in college athletics.
The internship was split into two tracks, titled revenue generation and fan experience. The revenue generation track involves working with administration, the ticket office, and the Falcon Club, while the fan experience track works with the marketing department, gameday operations, and strategic communications.
Our two recipients for the internship are junior Shantaris Brown and senior Bryce Walker-Ollins. Brown will assist with revenue generation during her year-long internship, while Walker-Ollins is partnering with fan experience.
"I am excited to be a part of this program because I am able to learn different aspects of the business side in the athletics world," said Brown. "I also look forward to gaining new skills that will help me in a future career of an athletics director."
"I am excited to have been chosen and eager to contribute in every way I can to this athletics program," added Walker-Ollins.
Regarding the internships, Director of Athletics Bob Moosbrugger stated, "Diversity and Belonging is a core value of BGSU. Within the athletics department, we take great pride in the diversity of our student-athletes and understand the role we play as administrators to grow the next generation of professionals. As a Filipino-American, I am excited for the development of this program with the current students."
