Falcons Close Out 2021-22 Season In Battle Of I-75

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program took on the Toledo Rockets in the Battle of I-75 on Friday night (March 4). Daeqwon Plowden paced the Falcons with 19 points while adding three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal to his stat line. In the end, it was the Rockets on top of a 96-56 final score inside Savage Arena. The game will mark the conclusion of the season for the Falcons, finishing with an overall record of 13-18 during the 2021-22 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started out close on the scoreboard, seeing a 10-5 tally at the first media timeout after a 5-0 run by the Rockets.
- Out of the timeout, the Falcons quickly answered with a 5-0 run of their own to tie the game up at 10-10, taking a 12-12 score to the next media break.
- An 8-0 run by UT put the Rockets up 24-14, forcing a timeout from the Bowling Green bench.
- The Falcons were able to cut into the score a bit, but another 7-0 stretch by the Rockets pushed the score to 36-21 with another timeout called by BGSU.
- The Rockets took a 47-28 lead into halftime.
- Out of the half, an early 8-0 run pushed Toledo's advantage to 61-33. Daeqwon Plowden answered with a 5-0 run on his own to cut the score to 61-38, but an 18-2 Rocket run pushed the score to 82-43 UT.
- From there, the two teams traded buckets to the 96-56 final.

FALCON STAT FACTS
- Daeqwon Plowden tallied 19 points on the night, bringing his career total to 1,618 to become the eighth player in program history to eclipse 1,600 career points in the Orange and Brown.
- Plowden also set two single-season highs for his BGSU career. He posted a steal, bringing his season total to 28, and a pair of assists, now with 33 on the year, to set new highs.
- With three assists, Trey Diggs brought his season total to 25 to set a new single-season high, surpassing his 24 from the 2020-21 season.
