Simon, Falcons Welcome Preston Squire To BGSU
November 10, 2023 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program and head coach Todd Simon announced the signing of Preston Squire on Friday (Nov. 10). Squire, a 6-foot-11 center, will arrive from Ephraim, Utah and will play the 2023-24 season with Salt Lake Community College before joining the Falcons next season.Â
Coach Simon on Squire:
"Preston is a tremendously skilled player with size. He plays with a high motor and great instincts. Preston is a high IQ player that plays the game the right way. His playmaking and shooting ability at his size is a mismatch nightmare for defenses. He comes from a strong lineage of coaches at all levels and has won at every level he has competed at."
Squire will join the Falcons following the current season with Salt Lake Community College. During his junior season of high school, Squire aided his team to a third place finish in the state while compiling a 21-3 record. He posted 11.1 points per game to go along with 5.6 rebounds. Squire followed it up in his senior season with 13.2 points per game and 7.7 rebounds while adding 3.4 assists and nearly a steal per game (0.9) to his stat line.Â
Squire on choosing BGSU:
"I chose BGSU because of the staff. I've had a personal relationship with Coach Simon and his staff since their days at Southern Utah. I came out and had that instant connection with everyone and truly felt like a member of the family from my first moments during my visit."
