BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team concluded the regular season with a win over the Miami RedHawks inside the Stroh Center Wednesday night (Nov. 15). The Falcons held Miami (OH) to a .056 hitting percentage in the match to secure the 3-0 sweep. BGSU has now won 10 of their last 11 with eight 3-0 sweeps over that stretch, taking strong momentum into the MAC Tournament this weekend.Â
The Falcons were led by Alex Laboy who landed a team-high five aces in the first set alone. Laboy added 15 digs to her stat line as well, also leading the team. Jaden Walz followed Laboy in digs with 11 while adding a team-high 21 assists for her 10th double-double of the season. On the attack, Lauryn Hovey paced the team with 16 kills and a .480 attack percentage.Â

How It HappenedÂ
Set 1: Bowling Green 25, Miami (OH) 15
- The Falcons tallied an early 3-0 run to take a 6-2 lead and force a quick timeout from the Miami (OH) bench.
- The run continued for the Falcons through the timeout, stretching to 10-0 with five aces from Alex Laboy with Miami taking their second timeout trailing 13-2.
- Coming out of the timeout, Miami tallied four points to trim the BGSU lead down to 13-6.Â
- Another run for Miami, this time 3-0, worked the lead down to 14-9, but a 5-0 run soon followed for Bowling Green to push the lead back to double-digits at 21-11.
- Miami added a 3-0 run, but the Falcons closed out the set for a 25-15 score to take a 1-0 advantage.
Set 2: Bowling Green 25, Miami (OH) 14
- In the second set, the Falcons started out with a 3-0 run to move in front. Another 3-0 run for BGSU stretched their lead to 7-2.
- The two teams traded points before Miami burned a timeout with the score at 12-6.
- The Falcons were able to string together a 4-0 run to increase their lead to 17-7 and force the second timeout from Miami of the set.
- Bowling Green added two more points out of the timeout to stretch the lead to 19-7 and the run to 6-0.
- Miami utilized a 4-0 run to trim the lead to 22-14 to force a BGSU timeout.
- The Orange and Brown responded with the next three points out of the timeout to take the set with a 25-14 score to go up 2-0 for the match.
Set 3: Bowling Green 25, Miami (OH) 13
- The Falcons began the third set with a 5-1 stretch to open up with a lead of the same score.
- The two teams traded points up to the media timeout with the score at 15-9 Falcons.
- Bowling Green logged the next three points out of the media break to make it a 4-0 BGSU run and 18-9 lead to force a Miami timeout.
- The Orange and Brown tallied another 4-0 run later in the set to stretch their lead to 22-11 to force the second Miami timeout of the set.
- The Falcons maintained the advantage, claiming a 25-13 set score for the 3-0 win.

- With the win, the Orange and Brown have now won 10 straight over the RedHawks and eight straight when hosting Miami (OH).Â
- As a team, Bowling Green held Miami to a hitting percentage of .056 to mark the fifth time this season holding an opponent under .100 on the attack.
- The Falcons landed 10 aces as a team with Alex Laboy accounting for half in the first set alone. Laboy registered five aces in just one serving session, setting a new career-high. Laboy also led the team in digs with 15.
- Jaden Walz finished with a team-leading 21 assists and second on the team in digs with 11, marking her team-leading 10th double-double of the season.Â
- Lauryn Hovey led the attack of the Falcons, landing 16 kills in three sets while maintaining a .480 hitting percentage on 25 attacks.Â
- Isabelle Laube made her fourth appearance of the season for the Falcons and tallied her first career dig in the Orange and Brown.
