Three Falcons To Named Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday morning (March 28) the Academic All-MAC men's basketball recipients for the 2022-23 season. As a team, the Falcons had three players named to the list, tying for the second-most in the MAC with Eastern Michigan. Only Toledo had more with four being named to the list. The list rounded out with both Central Michigan and Ohio having two and Akron, Ball State and Kent State each having one.
For the Falcons, Isaac Elsasser, Kaden Metheny and Brenton Mills were all named to the list. This marks the second time that both Elsasser and Mills have been named, with both making the list last season. This is the first time Metheny has been named Academic All-MAC. Elsasser also posted the highest GPA in the MAC at 3.895. This marks the third straight season that Bowling Green has had multiple players named to the list after having three in 2021-22 and two in 2020-21. It is also the second time in program history three Falcons were named in the same season with last year being the first.
Isaac Elsasser earned a 3.895 GPA while studying Sport Management. A senior, Elsasser played in 30 of BGSU's 31 games and made three starts. He played a career-high 35 minutes against UT Martin and recorded a career-high seven rebounds. Over the course of the season, he set career-highs in points (103), rebounds (48), assists (14) and steals (14).
Kaden Metheny posted a 3.56 GPA in Individualized Business. A sophomore with the Falcons, Metheny played in 28 of BGSU's 31 games with 27 starts. He entered the BGSU record book with 66 three-point field goals made, tying him for 10th in program history for the most in a season. He averaged a team-high 31.9 minutes per game and finished the season with a career-high 300 points on top of leading the team in steals with 33.
Brenton Mills rounds out the list for the Falcons with a 3.357 GPA in Finance. Making 18 starts, Mills appeared in 30 of BGSU's 31 games this season. Mills posted a career-best mark from the field, shooting 43.3%. He added a mark of 33.3% from behind the arc and 73.3% from the free throw line. Mills concluded the season with 152 points, 89 rebounds, 25 assists and a career-high 21 steals.
