April 18, 2023 | General
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University athletics department would like to proudly announce the Diverse Professionals Enhancement Program recipients for the 2023-24 school year. The DPEP program is dedicated to enhance the ethnic minority and gender representation in the field of intercollegiate athletics. The Diverse Professionals Enhancement Program was also created to help build a pipeline for future full-time internships and entry-level positions in college athletics. The 2023-24 academic year will be the third year of the DPEP program.
The internship was split into two tracks, titled student-athlete enhancement and fan enhancement. The student-athlete enhancement track involves working with the Falcon Club, game operations and student-athlete services. While the fan enhancement track works with strategic communications, marketing, and ticketing.
Our two recipients for the internship are rising senior Anna Flores and rising senior Herbie Alvarez. Flores will be placed in the student-athlete enhancement track during her year-long internship, while Alvarez will work with fan enhancement.
Flores, who was also awarded a 2023 Mike Cleary Stipend to the NACMA convention, stated, "I'm extremely grateful to be in the DPEP Program! I believe this will be a great stepping stone for my career when it comes to representing BGSU, as well as representing a lot of young professionals in the sport industry."
Alvarez is a member of the BGSU Cross Country team and he stated, "I am thrilled to work with BGSU athletics and look forward to making a positive impact. The DPEP internship is an amazing opportunity to grow as a professional. I am fully committed to working with the team and making the most of this opportunity."
