In his second year at BGSU, Darin Hudak has been a solid player for BGSU. The Tallmadge, Ohio native recently sat down to share, which includes insight into to his golf game, his favorite spots in town and where you need to go if you are passing through his hometown.

Q: Starting off, you are in your sophomore year. What has this journey been like for you at Bowling Green?
Hudak: It has been full of ups and downs, but I have enjoyed every minute of my time here at Bowling Green. I love competing with my teammates and pushing each other to be at our best. There is no better feeling than watching each other succeed.
Q: You have played in a lot of tournaments for the Falcons. Where of been some of your favorite places to play?
Hudak: The fall of my freshman year the team and I were very fortunate to play a tournament down in the Bahamas. We were there for almost a week; it was surreal to play a course right on the ocean.
Q: Which private and public courses are ones that you have not played that are dream courses to tee up on?
Hudak: Augusta National and Pebble Beach.
Q: Growing up, how did you gravitate towards golf. Did you play any other sports?
Hudak: I’ve been playing golf since the day I was big enough to hold a club. My dad loves the game, and he shared his passion with me as I grew up. I played football and basketball as a kid, but golf was always the one I was the best at and put the most effort into.

Q: Which club saves you the most?
Hudak: I would say my wedges and short irons are the strength of my game. I have worked hard since coming to BG last fall to dial in lots of different distances and ball flights with those clubs. It is always windy when we play and practice up here, so it has been crucial to be able to control the ball 150 yards and in.
Q: Of all the courses you have played, which hole is the most scenic to you?
Hudak: I have a hard time picking one hole, but my favorite stretch of holes to play are 16-18 at Firestone CC North Course in Akron. A long par-3 with an island green sandwiched between two great par fives that wrap around a lake.
Q: Is there a Falcon on this team that many people haven’t heard about that could make a big impact heading into the MAC Championship?
Hudak: I think any guy on our squad that is heading to the MAC has the potential to be top 5 if not win the tournament as an individual. Each of us has shown flashes of great golf in the last few months as we have been preparing for the championship. We have had a tough spring schedule, similar to last year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we made some noise coming down the stretch.
Q: You hail from Tallmadge, Ohio, which is just outside of Akron. If someone is coming to your hometown, or passing through, where is a place they should visit or grab a meal (what should they order) to get the full experience of your home area?
Hudak: The Chipotle by my house has a pretty killer chicken burrito.

Q: What are some things on your “bucket list”?
Hudak: Skydiving, and deep-sea fishing.
Q: Describe Coach Powers in one word?
Hudak: Knowledgeable.
Q: Who is the funniest guy on the team?
Hudak: We all have our moments, but I’d have to say my roommate Connor Gdovin, he is definitely unique.
Q: Where is your favorite spot on campus and why?
Hudak: I spend a lot of time in our indoor practice facility, especially in the winter months. We are so fortunate to have access to a space like that, definitely my favorite place to spend time at on campus.
Q: Do you have a favorite spot in Bowling Green?
Hudak: Kermit’s Restaurant has the best breakfast food I have ever had.
Q: Where is the coolest place you have traveled?
Hudak: Our tournament last fall in Nassau, Bahamas was the coolest place I have ever been to.
Q: What emoji do you use most often?
Hudak: Laughing emoji
