PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Emma Stransky scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday afternoon (Sept. e), but the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team fell, 5-1, on the road against the nationally-ranked University of Pittsburgh. The non-conference match was held at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Katie Cox and Maya Dean assisted on Stransky's goal, which came just over an hour into the match.
The Panthers (now 6-0-0 on the season) – currently ranked No. 13 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer, 14th by College Soccer News and 21st in the United Soccer Coaches ratings – outshot the Falcons (2-3-0) by a hefty margin, but held just a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Pitt doubled the lead on a penalty kick in the 57th minute, and scored again just under three minutes later.
Stransky scored her first collegiate goal in the 60th minute, with Cox and Dean assisting. But, the hosts added a goal with 75 minutes gone, then tacked on a final marker in the final minute of the match.
Stransky, a freshman, now has a two-match scoring streak, as she picked up an assist on the winning goal in BG's 2-1 victory at Detroit Mercy on Thursday.
Madison Vukas, a transfer from Pitt, faced seven shots on goal in the first half and made a career-high six saves.

• BGSU ends the non-conference portion of the schedule next Sunday (Sept. 10) against another nationally-ranked foe. Notre Dame will come to Cochrane Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. matchup, and admission is free. The Irish are currently eighth in the CSN poll, 11th in the TDS rankings and 15th in the USC listings.
