Marcus Hill Named To Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List

Award Presented To Most Outstanding Mid-Major Player
BOSTON, Mass. - The 2023-24 Lou Henson mid-season Watch List was announced on Wednesday evening (Jan. 10). The award is presented to the most outstanding mid-major men's college basketball player in Division I. Of the 40 players named, Bowling Green's Marcus Hill was listed as one of three representatives from the Mid-American Conference.
Hill is currently leading the Falcons in points per game (20.1), free throw percentage (75.2%) and minutes per game (33.8). He is currently one of two players in the MAC averaging 20+ points per game, joined by EMU's Tyson Acuff (22.0). As for Hill's minutes per game, the mark of 33.8 is fourth in the MAC. On a national scale, Hill has entered the Top 50 in the nation for six different stats. His 20.1 points per game is currently tied for 22nd in the nation while his 301 points total is tied for 29th. He's also 27th in the nation for field goal attempts with 234 and tied for 33rd for field goals made with 106. Hill has reached similar marks for free throws, currently tied for 34th in the nation for free throw attempts (101) and 35th in the nation for free throws made (76).
Players on teams from the following conferences are eligible for the award: America East, ASUN, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, CUSA, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, MEAC, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, SWAC, Summit, Sun Belt, WAC, West Coast. The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com. The 2024 award will be announced in Phoenix, Ariz., site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
Hill and the Falcons will be on the road for their next two games, first taking on Northern Illinois Saturday (Jan. 13) for a 4 p.m. EST tip. BGSU will then transition to Miami (OH) on Tuesday (Jan. 16) for a 7 p.m. start before returning home to the Stroh Center on Jan. 20 to host Western Michigan.
