The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team will host Troy University on Saturday, Feb. 10, in the program's annual Play4Kay/Pink Game. The Falcons are inviting Survivors, Thrivers and those standing in the gap for a loved one who is battling or has battled cancer to come to the Stroh Center for that afternoon's game, which begins at 2:00 p.m.
Our vision is to unite the community in support of women battling cancer. We aim to empower, celebrate, and showcase their strength ensuring they know they are not alone. The women's basketball team, staff, administration, students, and fans of BGSU women's basketball stand united and committed to fighting alongside all thrivers and survivors while they continue to inspire others to keep fighting.
Together, we will win and create a powerful force of resilient solidarity in the fight against cancer. If you are a Survivor or Thriver, or standing in the gap for a loved one, please fill out the registration form by CLICKING HERE.
Former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach Kay Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. The vision of Play4Kay came directly from Coach Yow. Through Play4Kay, she saw a way to bring communities together and honor cancer warriors in the fight against ALL cancers affecting women. Uniting players, coaches, officials and fans to do something for the greater good that far exceeds wins and losses in competition, the Play4Kay initiative aims to help change the narrative by educating, empowering and equipping the next generation with the tools needed to positively impact their family members and communities.
Survivors and Thrivers who sign up for the Play4Kay game by Tuesday, Jan. 30, will receive a free T-shirt and will have the opportunity to participate in an on-court recognition ceremony at the game.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
