BGSU Athletics Prepares for Friday's Hall-of-Fame Class of 2024 Induction Ceremony; Looks Ahead to 2025 and Beyond

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – As the Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics prepares for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the Class of 2024 this weekend, several updates have been made to the Hall of Fame Committee moving forward.
BGSU Senior Associate AD Jim Elsasser has been named Hall of Fame Committee Chair, and four individuals have been named to the committee. That quartet includes...
• Mark Miller, former BGSU football student-athlete and assistant coachÂ
• Erin Fahey, former BGSU women's golf student-athlete and current BGSU women's golf head coach
• Taylor Jefferson '10, BGSU Assistant AD for Marketing and Brand Management
• Greg Dickerson, Senior Life Design Coach at Radbill Center College & Life Design
The newcomers join the current members of the committee, which includes...
• Dr. Donna Trautman, BGSU Faculty Athletic Representative
• Dr. Naomi Lee, Retired BGSU athletics staff member- Falcon Club Representative
• Marcia Saneholtz '74, former BGSU women's basketball student-athlete, retired athletic administrator at Washington State, BGSU Hall of Famer (Class of 2015)
• Al Bohl '70, Former University of Toledo AD
• Danijela Tomic, current BGSU Volleyball Coach
• D. Lee Johnson, Esq. '84, practicing lawyer
• Mike Cihon '90, BGSU Associate Director, Strategic Communications
• Todd Black '93, former BGSU track student athlete, BGSU Hall of Famer (Class of 2004)
"The structure and process that support the selection for our BGSU Hall of Fame are a significant priority for me moving forward," said Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe. "This event will continue to be a premier annual celebration for this department, where we intentionally take the time to honor all our past recipients and pay tribute to the incoming class.
"Our BGSU history, traditions, and people are the most important cornerstones of what make us great as a University. I want to ensure that all who are part of this annual Hall of Fame tradition truly understand the importance of celebrating the past and its relationship to building the future together."
The induction ceremony for the Class of 2024 – which includes Burke Badenhop, Bob Clasen, Ali Mann, Don Woods and the 1970 lacrosse team – will be held on Friday evening (Oct. 18). The event is sold out, but a live stream of the ceremony will be available AT THIS LINK.
Additionally, nominations are now being taken for the Class of 2025. Anyone interesting in nominating an individual or team can do so BY CLICKING HERE (NOTE: the deadline to nominate is Dec. 31, 2024).
The four individual inductees in the Class of 2024 bring membership in the Athletics Hall of Fame to 252 individuals. Three teams (the 1983-84 national championship hockey team, the 1959 national championship football team, the 1972 men's indoor track and field team and now the '70 lacrosse team) are also in the Hall of Fame.
In addition to the ceremony on Friday, the Class of 2024 will also be recognized on the field at the BGSU football game vs. Kent State on Saturday (Oct. 19).
