BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team topped the Toledo Rockets in four sets Tuesday night (Nov. 5). The Falcons hit .336 in the match, the team's third time above. 300 in the last four matches. Alexis Mettille paced the efficiency, hitting .625 with 11 kills while Lauryn Hovey landed 18 kills with a .457 mark. Amanda Otten set the attack with 43 assists and 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Lindsey LaPinta added a career-high 24 digs. With the win, Bowling Green is now 12-2 in the MAC, securing a 12-win MAC season for the sixth time in the last eight seasons.

How It Happened
Set 1: Bowling Green 25, Toledo 21
- Toledo pushed out to a 3-2 lead in the early going, but the Falcons answered with a 7-1 stretch, including a 4-0 run to take a 9-4 lead and force a Toledo timeout.
- The run extended two more points for the Falcons, reaching a 9-1 run and 11-4 BGSU lead. The final point of the run was earned with a strong defensive effort from Sydnie Hernandez and Lindsey LaPinta, diving to get the ball over the net.
- A 3-0 Toledo burst chipped away at the lead, 11-7 before another 3-0 UT run later in the set pulled the Rockets within two at 15-13, resulting in a BGSU timeout.
- Toledo worked to tie the set at 17-17, trading points up until a 21-20 Rocket lead to force the second BGSU timeout of the set.
- Out of the timeout, Bowling Green landed two points with kills from Mia Tyler and Lauryn Hovey, reclaiming the lead at 22-21 with a Toledo timeout.
- The two points kickstarted a 5-0 run for the Falcons to close out the set with a 25-21 score.
Set 2: Toledo 25, Bowling Green 22
- The Falcons started the second set the same way the first ended, building a 3-0 run in the set. Toledo responded with a 4-0 run to move in front 4-3.
- Another 3-0 run for Bowling Green granted the Falcons an 8-5 lead, but Toledo again battled back, tying the set at 10-10 before moving in front 12-10 with a 5-0 run resulting in a BGSU timeout.
- The two teams went back-and-forth until Toledo paused the action, leading 19-18 in the set.
- Soon after the timeout, a 3-0 Bowling Green burst put the Falcons in front 21-20 with ties following at 21-21 and 22-22. Toledo moved in front 23-22 with BGSU taking a timeout.
- Toledo continued their run, closing out the set with a 4-0 run for a 25-22 score.
Set 3: Bowling Green 25, Toledo 18
- Bowling Green jumped out to a 6-1 start in the set, including a 4-0 run that forced a Toledo timeout.
- The two teams went back-and-forth until a 3-0 Bowling Green run pushed the BGSU lead to 15-8, resulting in the second Toledo timeout of the set.
- The back-and-forth resumed, carrying up to a 3-0 Toledo burst that trimmed the lead to 23-17 with a BGSU timeout.
- Toledo added another point after the break, but the Falcons finished the set with back-to-back points, including a Sydnie Hernandez ace to seal to the set.
Set 4: Bowling Green 25, Toledo 15
- The Falcons worked to build a lead in the fourth set, utilizing a 3-0 burst to push ahead 12-6 with Toledo calling timeout.
- The trading of points continued before Toledo registered a 3-0 run to cut into the BGSU lead, 17-13. Bowling Green ended the run with a Rocket timeout with the score at 18-13.
- Bowling Green and Toledo traded points to a 20-15 score, but the Falcons tallied a 5-0 run to close out the set and the match with a 25-15 score, hitting .583 in the fourth set.

- With the win, the Falcons secured a sweep in the regular season's Battle of I-75. All-time, Bowling Green is now 61-18 against the Rockets as well as 30-5 when playing at home.
- As a team, the Falcons hit .336 over the course of the match, including an impressive .583 in the fourth set. Bowling Green has now hit above .300 three times in the last four matches and four times this season.
- Amanda Otten tallied a team-high 43 assists for the Falcons, pushing her past the 1,000-career assist mark in the Orange and Brown, now with 1,038. Otten added 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season and first since Oct. 11. Otten completed her stat line with four kills, four blocks and two aces.
- Lindsey LaPinta finished with a career-high and team-leading 24 digs in the match. She now has six 20-dig matches this season and two in the last five days.
- Alexis Mettille entered the match hitting .427 on the season, ranking ninth in the country. Mettille improved the mark, hitting .625 in the match with 11 kills on 16 attacks with just one error. Including the matches from the weekend, Mettille now has 26 kills on 38 attacks with just one error.
- Jessica Andrews tallied a team-high six block assists in the match, bringing her career total to 272. The mark pushes Andrews up two spots on the Rally Scoring Era list, now tied for fifth with Kaitlyn Skinner (2010-13).
- The six blocks for Andrews also moved her up the total blocks list. She now has 314 for the Falcons, moving up two spots to fifth during the Rally Scoring Era.
- Lauryn Hovey led Bowling Green in kills with 18, matching her season-high, while maintaining a .457 hitting percentage. Hovey added six digs, three assists and a block assist to complete her stat line.
- Hovey's block assist in the match was her 221st of her career. The total puts Hovey inside the Top 10 during the program's Rally Scoring Era for career block assists, tying Corrie Mills (2003-07) for 10th.
- Sydnie Hernandez tallied a team-high three aces in the match. Hernandez has led BGSU in aces five times this season with the Falcons 5-0 in those matches. She added six digs and an assist to her stat line.
- Mia Tyler landed 13 kills in the match while maintaining a hitting percentage of .290. Edyta Waclawczyk followed closely with seven kills for the Orange and Brown.
- Avery Anders added eight digs for the Falcons as well as an assist in the match. Anders also received the most serve attempts with 22, having just one reception error during the match.
- The match marks the first time this season that Bowling Green has won a four-set match at home despite a record of 4-1 in four-set matches this season.
