CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Scholar-Athletes of the Week Wednesday afternoon (March 27). Of those named, Bowling Green's Tyler Ross was named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week. This is Ross' first Scholar-Athlete award as a member of the Falcons. Ross marks the fourth recognition for BGSU with Jack Krause winning last week and Lauryn Hovey being named the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week twice during the volleyball season.
Ross had a monstrous weekend at the plate for the Falcons, with a batting average of .455 and a slugging percentage of 1.273 as BG went 3-0. Ross erupted for a total of two doubles, two triples and a home run over the course of the three-game series sweep over Akron while registering four RBI and scoring four times himself. Ross' best game of the series came on Saturday (March 23) when he went 3-for-4 with a double and two triples, tying the program record for triples in a game as just the 10th Falcon ever with two in the same contest. As for his home run, Ross saved the best for last with a three-run, go-ahead blast in the series finale on Sunday (March 24), tallying three-RBI with the home run.
