Falcons Remain Hot To Start 2025 With Victories Over Barry and Simon Fraser in Florida

FINAL RESULTS
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Underneath the warmth of the Florida sun, the BGSU swim team came away with two victories to ring in the new year against host Barry (211-46) and Simon Fraser (188-74).
Swimming at the Miami Country Day Aquatic Center, an outdoor pool located about eight miles north of downtown Miami close to the Biscayne Bay, the Falcons improved their dual meet record to 6-1 on the season, their best since 2018-19.
The 200 medley relay quartet of Emily McNicol, Ava Vial, Riley McNichols and Samia Becdach helped BG start of hot and went 1:46.20.
Abby Toepfer took third in the 1,000 freestyle (10:50.12) and Taylor Devorace (1:57.30) and Blanca Sanz (1:59.50) placed second and third, respectfully, in the 200 freestyle.
BG started to cruise when they went 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly. McNicol (58.65), Alexandra Johnson (59.62) and Lily Kaiser (1:02.59) led the way in the 100 backstroke, Grace Bodrock (57.74), McNichols (58.87) and Fabiana D'Ambrogio (1:00.38) rounded out the Falcons in the 100 butterfly while Bodrock (2:07.23), D'Ambrogio (2:08.99) and Toepfer (2:15.31) paced the leaderboard in the 200 butterfly.
Grace Perlberg (1:07.62) and Alyse Sorg (1:08.58) placed second and third in the 100 breaststroke, respectfully, while Becdach won the 50 freestyle (23.84) and 100 freestyle (51.70). Annie Berrow (24.78) and Elayna Krupp (54.05) had third-place efforts in each event, respectfully.
McNicol (2:08.14) and Johnson (2:10.79) earned first and second in the 200 backstroke, while Ava Vial led the way in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.65) with Grace Perlberg (2:24.29) coming in third.
Toepfer (5:15.14) and Sanz (5:21.61) went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle, Vial (2:12.16) and Devorace (2:14.25) placed second and third in the 200 IM, and the Falcon 400 relay team of Becdach, Sierra Newton, McNichols and Bodrock rounded out the meet with a first-place mark of 3:34.47.
