Sixth-Place 400 Medley Relay Highlights Day No. 2 of MAC Championships
February 27, 2025 | Women's Swimming & Diving
THURSDAY RESULTS
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Samia Becdach touched the wall in Lane No. 8 as the anchor leg of BGSU's 400 medley relay.
Immediately, Becdach joined her counterparts Emily McNicol, Ava Vial and Grace Bodrock as their eyes were transfixed on the blue Alumni Arena Natatorium scoreboard to their left trying to peek at their much-anticipated time and place.
The quartet along with their teammates positioned at the end of the pool immediately jumped and shouted for joy as the board flashed a mark of 3:42.60 with a '6' in the place column.
It was the Falcons' best finish in the relay at the MAC Championships since 2022 when they broke the school record. The ending ultimately charged the Falcons to sixth place overall as a team, ending the night with 96 points ahead of Eastern Michigan (92) and Toledo (75).
One-meter diving was also a highlight, as Elise Snyder (236.95) and Natalia Mayorga (195.60) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the event. It was a major step forward for the duo, as in 2023 – Snyder's last appearance in a MAC Championship – she placed 19th in the event while Mayorga matched that placement in 2024.
It marked the first time since at least 2009 that two BGSU divers were represented in the A final of the 1-meter dive.
Bodrock was the lone individual swimmer for the Falcons in a final, as she took eighth in the B final of the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.87.
Ashley Fryer and Becdach were Bowling Green's best finishers in the morning prelims in the 500 freestyle and 50 freestyle, respectively.
Fryer took 22nd with a time of 5:05.40, improving from 30th at last year's Championships. Becdach swam a 23.76 to take 25th.
Freshman Claire Werner took 21st in the one-meter diving prelims with a score of 216.50, just 10 points off from making the B final in a competitive prelim where only 20 points separated 11th-25th places.
