A few points later, the Falcons went on an 11-2 spree to balloon the lead up to 19-8 with three of those 11 points coming from kills by Hobson. The Golden Flashes pieced together four straight points late in the set, but a pair of Kent State attack errors closed the door to any possible comeback as BGSU won the first set, 25-16.
Bowling Green jumped out to a hot start once again, using an early 7-2 run to gain advantage. Kent State slowly narrowed the deficit to trail by just two at 17-15 until a kill out of the hands of Hobson ignited the Falcons to grab five straight points to open a 21-15 lead that eventually granted BGSU the frame with a 25-20 victory.
In the third frame, the two sides found themselves even at 20-20 until Hobson came to the rescue again, adding two more kills to take a 22-20 lead before knocking home the final point to lock in a 25-22 set victory and complete the sweep.
