Falcons Move To 2-0 CCHA Start For Third-Straight Season
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University hockey team picked up a weekend sweep over Lake Superior State, pulling out a 4-2 victory over the Lakers Saturday night (Oct. 24). The Falcons scored at least one goal in each period, including two in the second, to create the win. Four different Falcons netted goals with eight different Falcons registering assists. Ben Doran came away as the only player to log one of each, being the lone multi-point Falcon for the night. The win moves BGSU to 2-0 to start conference play, resulting in a 2-0 start in each season under head coach Dennis Williams, the first coach in program history to start conference play 2-0 in each of his first three seasons of a tenure.Â

How It HappenedÂ
- The two teams played through more than half of the first period before the first score of the game. The goal stood as the lone of the first period with BGSU carrying a 1-0 lead to the first intermission.Â

- Lake Superior State tallied a power play goal just shy of six minutes into the second period, closing the gap to a 2-1 Bowling Green lead.
- The Falcons soon answered with a power play goal of their own, this one coming from Ty Higgins with assists coming from Mazden Leslie and Jeremie Minville to push the BGSU lead to 3-1 with the score holding to the end of the period.Â
- Four minutes into the third period, Lake Superior State again chipped away at the Bowling Green lead with a goal to narrow the score to 3-2.Â
- With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Doran was able to add an insurance goal to the Falcons' total with assists from Jake Sloan and Brody Waters for a 4-2 tally.Â
