BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green swimming and diving team returns to Cooper Pool on Friday to host Akron. The dual meet begins at 1 p.m.
The Falcons are 5-0 after opening the 2026-27 season at the IU Indy Double Duals on Oct. 3. They beat IU Indy 200-99, Xavier 216-74, Butler 222-71, Eastern Illinois 235-58 and Bellarmine 239-53, winning 12 of 16 events and both relays.
Samia Becdach won four times at IU Indy. She won the 50 freestyle (23.35) and 100 freestyle (51.01), swam the freestyle leg on the winning 200 medley relay and led off the winning 200 freestyle relay. Newcomers Anna Helmuth and Kylie Thompson each won an individual event in their collegiate debuts. Akron presents a formidable early season test. The Zips won the 2024-25 Mid-American Conference Championship, their fourth in a row and 11th in 12 seasons, and hosted the 2026 MAC Championships at Ocasek Natatorium.
Bowling Green last met Akron in a dual meet on Nov. 1, 2024, at Ocasek Natatorium, where the Zips won 195-105. Mayorga won both diving events in that meet. The Falcons also finished fourth at the Zippy Invitational in Akron in December, behind Akron, Cornell and Buffalo.
